Is there more to "sleep" than we imagine?

Where do we go when sleeping? The realm of dreams is unlimited by time and space. Have you noticed when you close your eyes in sleep: Bingo. It's morning with no perception of time ping. Do we "escape" time? On the average, we have this experience with sleep once every day all our lives. I believe when something happens that often, there is something profound to be learned from it. Do you suppose when we close our eyes in death, we immediately reopen them in the resurrection with no perception of time ping, whether we have been "gone" a day or a thousand years? Scripture says that the dead sleep. What do you think?
